One of our goals is to continue fostering the relationships that our children have with healthy family members.
While it is not always possible, for those who it is, we strive to make this a part of their restoration.
Having a social worker who is dedicated to this purpose is vital to their emotional and relational health. This person is very familiar with laws and procedures and understands how to facilitate these relationships best. She is equipped to attend visits with the family members to ensure the child is safe and secure, as well as any check- in interviews with the social services department.
Social workers are also the liaison between our children and the schools. Unlike the United States and other parts of the world, entering school is not always easy nor is it a given right. Many times, there are waiting lists and hoops to jump through for a child to attend. The social worker is the person who contacts the school and the administration to make sure are girls are welcomed promptly, are in the correct grade and receiving the education that they deserve.
