When Poverty

Is More Than economic poverty

Bolivia is the poorest and least developed country in Latin America.

If the sexual abuse doesn’t stop, mixed with poverty, these opens the door to a host of issues and forms of abuse. A chain of sad events Will most likely follow, which include teenage pregnancy, abuse of substances, prostitution, sexual exploitation and more.

For many girls in Bolivia abuse, instability, fear and absence is what shapes reality everyday life. Large populations of girls currently are living in very unsafe environments, being abused and exploited by the families that should be taking care of them. Plus the resources currently available to help these at-high risk girls are really small. Reasons why the horrible events keep on repeating from one generation to the next one

Without intervention, the result is often:

  • Repeated cycles of neglect
  • Limited access to very basic needs
  • Future? Defined by survival, no hope
  • Vulnerability to abuse and exploitation
  • Poverty is about broken relationships because
of sin and abuse is an extreme form of it.

Spiritual Dimension

‘Poverty is not only about the lack of resources. We should worry not only about their present distress, pain, and hardship. Beneath all of these is an even deeper need. Spiritual separation from God and the need of eternal salvation.’
