When God sets the agenda there will be lots of celebrations

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20

In a ministry like Amparo we deal with lots of pain, hopelessness, brokenness and death. But in the grace of God those very same things can open our eyes to life, restoration, hope and joy.

Last week in 4 days we had a birthday celebration, a Quinceañera Party and a double baptism.  All this while David and Corrie Weir (board members) were visiting Bolivia. Hard to believe but it all happened between Thursday 10th and Sunday 13th of March.

It is days like these, when we can experience a little bit of the fruit God can produce, that make it all worth it.

The end of last year we believed, said and planned for 2022 to be a year we would focus on discipleship. For us every circumstance of everyday life can be a ministry opportunity, can be a discipleship moment and a naturally beautiful chance to teach the girls to love God, love themselves, love others and obey God.  Little more than 60 days into the year, with strong difficulties in between, my heart is glad to see that we are giving strong steps in the good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.

WEIR’S VISIT

Yes! They made it. Corrie and David, chairman of the Board. Visited Bolivia from the 9th to the 14th of March. It is hard to put into words how refreshing, confirming and reaffirming their visit was.

I always enjoy seeing the light produced in the eyes of the girls by the idea of people caring, praying, thinking and wanting to get involved in their lives. Even more when it’s people that speak another language, come from a different country to visit them and are so different from what they know, at least on the outside.

As leadership it was a needed time to get into the ‘same page’ and continue maturing as Amparo together, as a community and not just as individuals.

QUINCEAÑERA

In the broader latino culture turning 15 is a BIG deal for ladies. It is when they’re formally introduced by their families to society as young ladies and not as kids anymore. Traditionally an outrageous party is expected, which involves spending money that you don’t have, fitting more people than you should in one place and cooking more food than invites will be able to eat. You know, latino style.

As Amparo is an opportunity to celebrate with the girls in a way they had not experience before. With love, joy, peace, without indulging in excesses, in a safe way and environment. It’s an opportunity to gather the Christ family God has placed in their lifes. It’s an opportunity to mark a milestone in their lives, where they can see life can be different and there is so much more to experience in life.

BAPTISM

After almost 6 years of knowing 2 of the girls who live at our girls home, 4 of them living at Home, we not only dream of a better future for them, but we begin to see a present full of hope.
